Hello, world (and why this site exists)
For years I’ve kept notes in scratch files, in Slack DMs to myself, in a ~/braindump.md
that nobody but me will ever read. This site is the slow public version of that.
What you’ll find here
- Postmortems of incidents I’ve actually fought — Apache crashing under bot traffic,
MariaDB hanging on a stuck
MyISAMrepair, a/var/backupdir that swallowed a whole root partition. - Architecture choices I’d defend (and a few I wouldn’t, in retrospect).
- Tools I’m building — mostly around the SysTeam Healthchecks SaaS and the observability tooling that surrounds it.
- Occasional notes on the craft — Postgres tuning, Go gotchas, the long tail of operations work that nobody writes down.
What you won’t find
- “10 things every senior engineer should know” listicles.
- Hot takes about frameworks.
- Anything ghostwritten by an AI without saying so.
If the cursor below is still blinking, the site is live. The first real post should land within a couple of weeks.
